What has the CIG accomplished since it began over a year ago? Let's see...A review the accomplishments of the CIG over the past year of meetings:
- Starting the CMS process.
- Geared the Agencies to use an operable approach.
- The CIG now has a better understanding of the entire process.
- More people in the community have an understanding of what is going on, more people than ever before are getting involved, and now more participation is needed.
- Feedback on the CAMU design and the 2007 remediation project was very helpful in moving those projects forward.
- The work of the CIG has opened the doors to grants for the village.
- Visits by Dr. Bowers and Dr. Schoof, and the October panel discussion.
- Securing funding for the MRAG using the technical expertise of Dan Watts.
- The creation of a CIG brochure.
- Sending updates to the community in the mail.
- Conducting surveys of the group’s effectiveness.
- Playing a role in the phytoremediation study.
- Having trees planted on Rt. 31 in front of the FMC plant.
- Empowered Middleport citizens to do comprehensive research on their own, allowing them to make their own assessment of the issues.
